Hey Mike,
Just a quick thank you for being such a great source for us woodworkers.
Wanted to show you what I made with some of the cherry I purchased a couple of weeks ago. I did use some Sapele that I had on hand for the top.
Any case thanks again for being there and I look forward to many more visits to purchase stock.
Take care!

The Cherry turned out great. Will be coming by for some more for a dresser project by the end of the month.

Michael,
I had great success with some of the woods I bought the last time I was at your shop. Thought you might be interested to see the results. The Red Zebrawood was beautiful, but the small piece of Sycamore I bought had the most unique markings I've ever seen. I also ripped one of those 1.5 x 1.5 pieces of Redheart into quarters and turned one of the resulting pieces into a "magic" wand.
Thanks for the great wood! To quote Arnold, "I'll be back".

Had the pleasure of meeting Mike at his store this weekend to see his domestic and exotic woods. He had a fantastic selection and was more than willing to help go through the pile for that "perfect" board. More importantly, Mike was such a nice guy and more than willing to talk "shop" and all things wood. Will be visiting his store from now on for both his taste in wood and his passion for wood. Thanks Mike for an incredible first impression!

Mike,
A few years ago I bought some black walnut and curly maple from you for a project for my granddaughter. After building one toy duck the stuff sat unused for a while. I retired from the Fire Dept and began a 2 year RV journey. Going through Arkansas, Tennessee, and the Carolinas, I got to missing my guitar (sold it when we left), and saw Mountain Dulcimers. Well the bug got me and I bought one, but just really wanted to build my own. On a 2 week stay back home in Sherman, I got busy in the shop and built 2. I love 'em! The wood from you is perfect and they sound great! You told me to send pictures of what I made when I bought the wood, so a few years later here they are:
Oops: can't find pics of the walnut one. I'll send in another email later.
Thanks for providing such good wood!

Hey Mike,
I picked up the stock today at the freight terminal and got it stacked in the shop. It all looks very nice, thank you! I have a fan running so every thing should be fine.
There were some monster trees there; I don't think I have ever seen qswo that wide before and certainly not with figure as nice as what you sent. Thanks again.

Thanks for the great experience of purchasing some high quality wood at reasonable prices. I have bought wood from Wisconsin to Hawaii but none have a more friendly, knowledgable and quality service that you provide. I am also thinking about that piece of fiddleback walnut.

Posted on The Burl an online woodworking forum.
Those of us who are in out-of-the-way places, and have no "real" lumber yard close by are often forced to buy lumber from online sources. I've purchased from Woodworker's Source in Arizona in the past, and with good results. Recently, I got wind of McKinney Hardwood Lumber, located in Texas, through a Web posting, and thought I'd give him a try.
The McKinney Web site doesn't provide for online ordering, but a phone call got things going. After a couple of phone calls and a couple of e-mails, my order was shipped (via freight to a local depot). I had explained what I was looking for, and they sent what I needed. So, I'd say the transaction was a success. So, I thought I'd pass along the experience to others in the hardwood-starved Southwest.

Wow! What an incredibly nice guy Mike is! Picked up some cherry to finish a table/desk I am building for a co-worker. His selection was superb and the price was right. Good shop talk was a bonus! To any and all my North Texas Woodnet brethren that have not been there, you need to make the trip. You won't regret it! I will definitely be back, Mike, I will still need that aromatic ceder we discussed...

I needed some figured Maple 12" yield boards for CNC carved boxes, Michael was able to fill the bill. Michael had way more than I could afford at the required specs.
For newer members he was previously Curly Woods. I wish every woodworker had a source like McKinney Hardwood. He does ship, and will select what you specify.
I am able to go see all the good stuff he has. I have to tell him I have xx$ to spend, do not show me more!

I went out to see Mike today at his McKinney shop, I needed some 10" plus or wider Cherry to carve on my CNC. Mike is a great guy to deal with and gets fantastic Exotic and Domestic wood. He ships he and will surely please anybody. He has a great stock of wood for those special projects. I just thought I would let people know he is still providing great quality wood. I was able to get 6-8' Cherry boards all over 10" and 1 over 14" wide. $5.50 Bf plus tax.

Received the Flame Box Elder last night and it is truly beautiful maybe even beyond beautiful, don't think I have ever seen this quality of box elder ever. Wanted to thank you for supplying the wood and ask a few favors.
One is could you please let me know as soon as you get some more in, I would like to get some bowl blanks. And the other is do you have higher res pictures of the tree and wood, if so could you please email them to me if it's not to much trouble. I would really like to use it in my wood book that I have for my students.
Thanks again and please keep me in mind if you get more in, or if you get any Box Elder burl.

Michael,
It was December, 2005 that my wife and I drove to McKinney to pick up about a thousand pounds of quarter-sawn white oak. In December a year later the 7 foot trestle table is now complete.
Maybe I’ll have the matching six chairs and two benches finished by December of this year.
Thanks to you and Frank for all your help and for carrying such a wonderful selection.

Here are a couple of photos of a father-son project my 11 yr old twins and I have recently completed. All of the stock was purchased from Curly Woods. The ends are walnut and flame[curly] maple. Each of us turned one of the three spindles with our own unique pattern; we used quarter sawn Sycamore, curly Yellow Birch and Myrtle Burl. For my first attempt at marquetry I used maple and walnut which I re-sawed myself.
I’ve also included a picture of a lidded container I turned from some of your big leaf Maple burl, the finial is your Gabon Ebony.
We live right here in McKinney and are grateful to have such a wonderful source for stock so close to home. The associates at Curly Woods are super knowledgeable and are more interested in selling you the right wood as opposed to selling you any wood. As a beginning woodworker I really appreciate the consistent and friendly service I get at Curly Woods.
By the way, I finally got around to opening up the crotch log of Texas Ebony I bought a few weeks ago and the figure is crazy!

I just wanted to drop a note to you folks and say what a wonderful find I made in the curly maple you recently got in, it is stunning! The curl in it is hard to believe until you start to finish it out, and once I did, I found I didn't want to cut the board any more, it is just to beautiful. I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much we appreciate working with you and your staff. Dear Frank,
Just a note to thank you once again for all your help in ordering and
selecting the quarter sawn white oak for my niece's bench. As I explained
to you on the phone, my youngest sister's daughter graduated from McGill
University and our other sister decided to do a needlepoint project for her
present and asked me to make a "foot stool" for it. Well, the needlepoint
arrived and it wasn't exactly foot stool size. She admitted in her note
that she had more of a bench in mind, and included a picture from a
magazine. White painted "Louis the Whatever" with gold accents. I don't do
Louis or any of those other kings! Shaker, Craftsman, or Mission is the
extent of my talents.
I decide on Mission and needed quarter sawn white oak. I usually go to the
lumber yard and pull boards out of the rack until the pile looks large
enough to build my project. I never learned to figure board feet from a
cutlist. Your short course over the phone, which I now refer to as
"Boardfeet for Dummies" and your selection and rough marking of the wood was
invaluable! It's great stuff.
As requested, here are a couple of photos of the completed project. I just
hope I did Meri-K's needlework and your beautiful wood justice. Thanks
again for all your help. I will be talking to you in the near future. Mike Craw

I received the wood yesterday. Thank you very much, it's a good looking board. You have taken what was turning into a bad experience and made it a very positive one. It should help to create a great piece. I'll look forward to doing business in the future.
Thanks again, Joe Lynde [NOTE]: One of the curly quarter sawn White Oak boards shipped to Joe, via motor freight, had become oil soaked in transit. I just wanted to let you know that I received my shipment of exotic lumber today and I couldn't be more pleased with the selections. I've often contemplated mail ordering wood, but didn't because I like to pick it out myself. I often examine every board available in the bin to find the best. I feel that you have done that for me. I am from Waco, Texas and I was in Mckinney due to a seminar that was held at the medical center. I met Frank at your store on 4/28/05. He was very polite and helpful. I only purchased a small amount of exotic wood, but he treated me just like an old friend and shook my hand at the end of the transaction.

I just got back from my first trip to Curly Woods in McKinney, and all I can say is:
Wow! What a great experience!
Well, I can really say more...
I had heard of Mike's great reputation on the forums, and my trip only solidified that reputation in my mind. First, the wood is top quality, with a wide and great selection. I was mainly looking for pen blanks and small portions of wood for a display case, and Mike had a great selection for both. But, I also had a great time walking around looking at all of the other wood Mike has in his shop. I found two pieces of Birdseye Maple that looked marvelous (almost to drool over), but I decided to wait since I was thinking of darker wood projects for now. Given the selection Mike has, I'm sure I'll find such quality pieces when I'm ready for lighter wood.
Second, I found Mike to be very knowledgable regarding the wood and also one of the nicest and most professional guys I've dealt with. He was quick to greet me and point me in the right direction while he helped a customer finish up an order. Then, he took time to explain the different woods he had for pen blanks (being fairly new to woodworking, I had not heard of most of them). To top it off, he helped me calculate the board feet I needed for my display case, select a beautiful piece of cherry, and then square it up, plane it and cut it to length for me (I don't have a jointer or planer yet). All of this, and the wood was a very competitive price.
To say my experience was great is probably an understatement. Suffice it to say that I have no doubt whatsoever that I will soon be back at Curly Woods to buy the wood for my next project. Mike and his store have truly lived up to their great reputation in the community. Scott Wyatt The wood [curly Cherry] got here today. I don't know how it got here so soon but you
sure picked a fast freight company!

It's odd that you bring this up, Jim. Just last night at work I was talking to two guys about my experience ordering figured woods sight unseen from two sources - Hearne Hardwoods and Mike Mastin at Curly Woods.
I think once I explained what I was making and was looking for, both were able to make beautiful selections for me.
I usually buy and select lumber myself locally, but when I need that special wood that either isn't available locally or the quality isn't up to par, I won't hesitate to get on the phone with either supplier.

Posted on WoodNet Woodworking Forum by Chris I went to Curly Woods in McKinney for the first time this morning. If any of you Dallas guys haven't been, you have got to go there and check it out. Everywhere I looked, something made me say "wow". Very friendly guys there as well and I just kinda felt at home as I walked around saying "wow". Brought home an awesome Curly Maple board and a couple Curly Cherry boards. I had never seen Curly Cherry except on their web site. Sweet. Can't resist posting a few pics.
I think the 8/4 Cherry with sapwood on the edge is going to become a bench for our living room with the sapwood showing. Chris Posted on Sawmill Creek Woodworking Forum by Art Hendrix We want to report on Mike Mastin from Curly Woods. He was a great host! From the time we all arrived to set up, to the end of the day, he was always there to help. If someone needed something and he didn't have it, he or one of his employees went out and got it. He provided donuts, coffee, drinks, lunch, and a wide variety of blanks.
The only negative thing was that the wood in his shop was so beautiful that a lot of time was lost when the turners had to stop and pet the wood. If you look at the last picture he took, you will notice about half of the group is behind a HUGE burl sitting on the floor. It was awesome. Everyone had to pet it, more than once!
Getting together with other turners for a great cause is what it was all about! Art and Margie Hendrix Mike,

Wanted to say Thanks, Thanks for the beautiful piece of wood. If it was for me I'd be very tempted to slice it into veneer. Oh well, it belongs to those who pay the bills. It's going to make a wonderful bar top. I'll give it the A1 finish treatment. I'll tip a glass to Ya this weekend,(just one though) and I'll punch any who dares a spill on that fine piece of wood... If you're looking for something really special, I can't say enough good
things about Curly Woods(www.curlywoods.com) in McKinney. I was there
this AM picking up highly figured cherry for some raised panels I'm
making. Awesome wood and great people to deal with!
Duane Dennis Posted on Sawmill Creek Woodworkers Forum http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?threadid=5758
I
had wanted to post a message about this wonderful experience earlier
but I had a little computer problem. I was reluctant to call Curly
Woods because I was not really sure of what I needed. I called and
talked to a really nice guy named Frank that was so very helpful. I
told Frank that I was looking for a couple of pieces of wood to turn
into two collection plates for my church.
He was very helpful and dug through the lumber piles to try and find
something to help me out.
The result was two pieces of beautiful curly myrtle.
Don Farr Thanks
again for the beautiful quilted maple. Being a novice or new guy the
jewelry box I made for my wife turned out great and sure was a lot of
fun. After looking around the internet, I finally found some good
looking boxes. I drew up plans and made a beautiful jewelry box that my
wife hopefully will enjoy for years to come. The Figured walnut with
quilted maple finished with several coats of tung oil "what a
combination".
Thanks again Bryan Frayser Hi Carol and Frank,
I was told that buying wood from you was a good experience. Personally
I would rate it higher than that.
Thank you, Bryan Lord Mike,
Thank You very much. The curly soft Maple lumber came today and it looks great. Hi folks,
Just
wanted to pass along that I just received an order from CurlyWoods.com
(Mike Mastin). I've bought wood from Mike before, and was happy with
what I got.
Today
I received a small order of Birdseye Maple to be used for a small table
top. The way Mike described the look of it to me, I thought it wouldn't
be real good figure - I was wrong. To my untrained eye, it looks great
with lots of eyes. Price was right too!
Thanks Mike. Joe Ott -No affiliation - just a happy customer Mike,
Well
I finally broke into that pile of quarter sawn white oak I got from you
a couple months ago. Let me tell you, the plain ole quarter sawn isn't
plain, it's superb with lots of flake. On some boards, the flake is
quite large and random and on others, it is smaller, but much more
regular. Really nice overall and very little of it without flake.
But the curly stuff is unbelievable!
I think you should call it tiger oak or something like that. Curly just
doesn't do it. It's so nice that my main worry is about doing the
boards justice when I match them up for the tops. I was also quite
impressed as to how flat, straight and regular the curly boards were.
They went straight to the planer, and tomorrow will go to the sander
for final dimensioning.
I
know this is starting to sound like a commercial for your stuff but
it's not. Just really happy about some great oak boards.
Thanks Bill Powell Good luck on you new location ! Dan Halpert Thanks again, Thanks a lot! Steve Millican I
recently had the opportunity to visit your store and I must say, it was
quite a visit. I couldn't believe the amount of figured wood before my
eyes. And the degree of figure displayed, made me wonder how you could
have possibly collected such a fine inventory. I have since been in
some retail lumber establishments, look at the exotics, and get the
feeling I'm shopping in the lumber section of Lowes. You have spoiled
me. The
wood I purchased from you has not made it to the project table yet, but
if it looks half as good with a finish on it as it does in the raw, you
better keep your shop filled to the ceiling.
Thanks Mike! Linda Doyle We
took a slight detour on the way home from vacation this past month
especially to buy lumber. I was not disappointed. The wood
is beautiful and well cared for, could have bought three times as much!
I also have to say that Frank was especially wonderful. He took the
time to show us everything and patiently answered all my questions. He
is a great asset to your business! The
black walnut and the sinker cypress are exquisite. You should really
put a picture of the sinker cypress on your site, it would
sell out fast. I guess it's good for me you didn't. I noticed it listed
on your site, but never thought about getting any of it until I saw it.
It is nothing like ordinary cypress.
Thanks,. Mary Zuelke Just to let you know I received the 18 BF of 8/4 curly red oak yesterday. Amazing,
you shipped it Monday and the UPS guy was at my door when I arrived from
work Tuesday. The lumber looks incredible! I was tempted to start working
with it but I will give it a couple of days to aclimatize to the shop.
Thanks for the efficient and prompt service. Eugene Soto The order arrived a bit ago, and is now stickered in a pile in my shop. Boy
180 BF makes a good sized pile
when the shop is a 2 car garage. The 4/4 curly quartersawn White Oak is tremendous, the curl is so tight it is like a tiger maple in
texture. Going to look just fine and I'll
use it judiciously. The 4/4 is rough cut, but should clean up fine.
I like what I've been able to see
so far. Nice and plentiful rays. The 6/4 is like the 4/4. And by rough measurement and figuring I'd say you were generous with the BF
calculations. All in all I think it looks good and you'll hear from me in the future.
Thanks, Bill Powell Mr. Mastin,
The Northern Black Cherry arrived today - and it looks awesome. Thanks for
taking the time to package it up so well, and for even rough cutting
some of the pieces for me. I'll be sure to send you some pictures of
the baby bed when it is finished sometime this winter.
Thanks again, Peter Siegel Mike,
Here are some photos of the 4 string bass that I built using some
incredible curly Big Leaf Maple for the front and back panels. I picked up
the 5/4, 6 foot long plank of the Maple from you, and the leftovers will be
adorning at least one more bass. The figure on this Maple is
incredible. The pictures don't do it justice. The guy that I built the
bass for was floored by the figure and really liked the mineral streaks-
he wanted the front bookmatched, said it gave it more character. In
addition to the curly Big Leaf Maple, I used curly hard Maple, Purpleheart,
Peruvian Walnut, Zebrawood, and Ebony for the fretboard. I'll have more
basses in the near future, the two in production now are almost
exclusively made from figured woods from your shop. You really can't
beat your quality, prices, or service.
Thanks, Brad Wilson Michael,
I received my Texas Ebony, it is really nice looking. It looks like it
might be real hard on my turning tools :-)
Thanks, Ben Hooper Michael,
The
curly Cherry showed up yesterday afternoon. Outstanding figure - a
couple of the boards I don't know if I even want to cut down to
size....
Anyway -
thanks for the help in selecting the boards to the cut sizes. I'm very
pleased with it and will send you some pictures when I finish the
project.
BTW - just
to give you some idea of your performance vs. your "on-line"
competitors.... You were the first to respond to my requests, had the
best prices and will be the only one I recommend to anyone.
Cheers, Scott Werner Michael,
The curly Cherry arrived Thursday in great shape. And its beautiful.
Thanks so much. Bill Erskine Michael;
The curly White Oak came in great shape. Excellent choice of grain.
Thanks. Paul Fredericks I was there a few days ago and got a piece of cherry
wood for some stock for the medieval crossbows I
build. I have to say that I was first most impressed
on what was in stock. Second I was BLOWN AWAY, when I
asked if you guys would cut it down for me and did.
The gentleman that helped me[Lee Patz] first asked if I wanted
walnut, cherry or any other of the woods in stock was amazing.
It was not about the sale, but about what I wanted.
After a tour of all the wood he took the time to cut
it to the way I wanted it and still had time to talk.
VERY impressed. I have not cut the cherry as of yet -
its too pretty, but when I do this weekend I will
start to take pictures of the crossbow as it turns
into a 15th century Danish design.
THANK YOU GUYS!!! I will be back :) David Ruff Michael,
I am very grateful,- that curly walnut was just perfect, and the
magnificent oak, too. I make three-dimensional wood inlay work, really,
it's art, of fairly large proportions, using 20 or more woods in one
creation. Our pieces came just in time, like a godsend. Thank you, but.please
make a note: when I order next time. try to put in a sample of 4/4 Myrtlewood. I have never worked with it and
maybe I can use it. Regards,
Wolf M. Michael,
The wood [curly quarter sawn White Oak] arrived on Thursday and it looks great. I Spent Friday
planing and squaring it. The top for the sofa table looks great. I look
forward to seeing the quartersawn White Oak.
Thanks again, E. D. Herbert Jr. Mike,
Just
a quick note to tell you the two bundles of cherry shorts I received
from Curlywoods was far better quality than I expected. Sapwood was
very minimal (to the point of being insignificant). I just made up a
prototype of a presentational "buckle box" for a silversmith out of the
Curlywoods stock and it turned out absolutely gorgeous. A walnut and
cherry nightstand is the next project. I'm
very pleased with the lumber and felt the price was fair. I look
forward to personally visiting your shop and to future business with
you and Curlywoods.
Thanks for the good service and excellent quality.
Sincerely, Kirby Hidy Hi Mike,
The
quilted big leaf Maple boards arrived today and I am most
pleased. My daughter is in from Germany and she even
ooohed and ahhhhed over them. Thanks for doing such a
good job picking out the boards for me. Ron A. I finally got to cut into a piece of the figured myrtlewood you sent.
I want more. That's amazing stuff.
Thanks Stephen S. Order arrived this evening. Everything was in perfect shape and the curly
maple is truly stunning.
Thank you! W. Miles Mike,
I
received the Sycamore yesterday and it arrived in perfect condition.
Good prep work for shipping. The Sycamore was everything you claimed it
would be. Excellent grain patterns. Should make a fine piece of
furniture for my customer.
Thanks again. Hank Schurman. Mike,
I received the Black Walnut and Curly Walnut on Tuesday; it was beautiful.
I really appreciate all the help. Many suppliers aren't very interested in
taking care of the small buyers.
Thanks! Kevin Moody Mike
Unwrapped
the wood[Big Leaf Maple burl turning blanks] on Sunday. It looks great
and I really appreciate the job you did on wrapping it, some suppliers
send it bare and it only takes a few hours of the dry air here to start
checks so again thanks. M. Duvall Mike,
I
want to thank you for all the trouble and help you gave me on such
short notice. The quilted maple was outstanding, you have got yourself
a new customer. I will definatly be ordering from you again in the
furture.
Again many thanks for the great service on such short notice. K. Winningham Mike,
I got the 6/4 curly quarter sawn White Oak today. I have one problem
with it though. I don't want to to cut it! Nice wood. John C. Mike,
The 300 bf quarter sawn White Oak arrived today. I am very pleased. Beautiful lumber. Alan H.. Hello to the Mastins...
Thanks,
Mike and thank the Mrs. too. I had a great visit with
you guys. Turned a piece of the [Big Leaf Burl] Maple
today and it looks great. My little bride loved the
figure of the wood. Have a good evening and thanks
again. Gariel Sauls Hi Mike,
I received your 30 BF shipment of quarter sawn curly white oak and must
say it is the most beautiful wood I have ever seen!
And, it was all straight, no cupping, warp or
wane. You certainly didn't misrepresent what you
described and I will strongly recommend you as the only source for
"GREAT" wood to my woodworking friends. Thanks,
Lloyd Marthaler Hi Mike,
Got the order, looks great. Can't wait to throw it into the planer.
Thanks again for the great wood! R.J. Russell Mike,
I just received the curly cherry yesterday. I am very
satisfied. The wood is beautiful.
Thank you for your help and
service. You have made a happy customer. Brad S. Mike:
I received my wood and it was everything you said it would be.
You will be hearing from me again. Irwin Fastow Hi Mike,
Received
the the 8/4 fiddleback Black Walnut Friday. It looks very
nice. Thanks for your attention and your
help. You delivered as advertised - good
stuff. I'm glad to have made your acquaintance.
Hope to be in touch in the future. Mike Jager Got
my order on Saturday. I've got to say this is some of the
most unusual wood that I've ever seen.
All was in great shape. I'm sure it will make a
excellent table top.
Thanks a lot! Don Jackson The following comment was posted on the rec.woodworking newsgroup 08/18/2002 :
Subject: Figured hardwoods First let me say I am posting this to let you know of a good source for
figured hardwoods and I have no business interests in this supplier.
Yesterday, I traveled to McKinney Texas and bought some of the best curly
cherry lumber I have seen in a long, long time. Of the 200 bf I purchased
all was highly figured, with very little sapwood. I have been working with
wood for over forty years and this was not my first trip to a supplier, but
it was my first time to see so that much highly figured lumber in one spot.
Mike Mastin is extremely cordial, knowledgeable and was eager to treat me as
a long time valued customer. For a couple of hours time I had free rein to
browse and choose the wood I will be using to build a set of kitchen cabinets.
All the woods he stocks are all top drawer material and at a reasonable
prices too.
You can visit Mike at http://www.mckinneyhardwoods.com or you can call him at
866-679-6637.
Regards, Roger Jensen Mike,
Just
a quick note to say that I truly appreciated yesterday's dealing with
you. The figured cherry I bought from you is some of the best I have
seen in many a year. I know it's going to make a set of great kitchen
cabinets.
I am looking forward to the next trip to your establishment and wish you the very best in your new facility. Roger Jensen Michael,
The
Long Leaf Heart Pine looks really nice. I have only
cut into one of the beams so far. When you get a
couple of minutes, could you please e-mail a short history of the
beams? Where, when, how old, etc. I
would really appreciate this.
Thanks! James O. Mike . . .
I
picked up the spalted Maple on Saturday. I am quite
pleased with the order. Packed well and the product
was exactly as expected. I shall look forward to doing
business with you in the future.
Thanks J. Jones Mike,
The
wood arrived Wednesday. The Maple is stunning, and the
Mesquite is better than expected. Thanks for the
prompt shipment. Royce Kessler Michael,
I received the curly cherry. Good
stuff. Machined well so far. Good
figure. Packaging for shipping was done
well. Thank you. Do you still have
that 15" wide stock of curly cherry? Was there other
boards from that same tree?
Thanks, Fred S. Michael,
I turned a plate from the Myrtle I got from you. It turned out beautiful.
Thanks again, and it was a real pleasure to have met you, and I will
most definitely be seeing you again. Mike Troncalli Hi Mike,
Thanks for the phone call today to check on my order of curly qtr sawn
white
oak. I did receive it on Friday and it looks beautiful. This is
certainly
the prettiest wood I've ever worked with and I hope to do it justice.
I
couldn't resist wiping a little mineral spirits on it to get a preview
of
what it will look like finished. The curl is going to look very three
dimensional. I'll email you some pictures of the finished piece in
about a
month or so.
So yes, I am very pleased with the wood, your prices, and your great
service. Brian B. Mike,
The Cherry lumber was great!
Thanks again. Steve D. Mike:
I received the order [quarter sawn White Oak] in good
shape! I'm anxious to start my project!
Thanks again for helping me out. A. Peck Mike,
I got the order last week. All the curly oak looks great.
Thanks for doing a great job of packaging and shipping. D. Jackson Mike,
Thanks for the excellent curly black walnut. We're milling them tomorrow, so we'll see
how it goes. I'll send a photo of the finished piece.
Thanks again, James Franksen Mike,
Picked up the wood yesterday and it looks great, I really like the quarter
sawn Sycamore and curly Black Walnut. I made 6 bootjacks last night and
have 6 more tri-colored ready to cut and glue tonight they will be
awesome. I will atttach a couple of pictures next week. I'm sure we
will be doing business for a long time. The selection and packaging
were 1'st rate. Thanks again. David Ferry Mike,
The wood arrived Friday. The wood looks
GREAT! You're right-the Mesquite is a gorgeous
wood. I
can't wait to work with it. I am completely satisfied
with all your woods. Built a buffet with the first
load of cherry. You've got my business!
Thanks again. Steve Darden Michael,
I received the curly black walnut. It looks even better in "person".
After seeing it I don't know if I can make myself cut it up for gun stocks.
Thanks, Steve Sierp Mike:
We made our trip home safely - all seven hours of it (we go lost and ran
into Texas Motor Speedway as the crowds were pouring out from the
cancelled race). Along the way, we hit several
absolute downpours but I am glad to say that all hardwood made it home
safely (and completely dry) and is now racked in my garage
to dehumidify to Midland's dry climate.
I
am very glad that we make the trip to see you in
person. It was great getting to meet
you. I expected to see some of the best domestic
hardwoods available and I
wasn't disappointed (but you already know that after helping me load my
thousand pounds of wood).
Thanks again Mike. I will let you know when I need more!!! Steve M. Mike,
Received the two myrtle crotch wood boards in good order. Should
make some great looking boxes.

Please let me know when you get the other shipment of myrtle
boards in, especially if there are some in the 6" to 8" width bracket.
John H. Hi Mike.
I
picked up the shipment (90 bd.ft.) of 12/4 Curly Black Walnut today at
the freight terminal. It was in good shape and
undamaged!
I have got it in my shop, but have not looked too close at it yet. They
look like good pieces of wood and the two smaller boards will yield some
fine curly boards. I plan to use them for book matched cabinet tops.
It will be a couple of weeks before I can get to start cutting them
down. This will be a lot of work given their size! I'll send you some
photos once I get them further along. I look forward to doing more
business with you in the future. John D. Got
the wood today it looks great. Far nicest oak I have
ever bought. Never seen anything like it.
Steve Knight I received my order a couple of days ago and it looks
very good. Still haven't had a chance to plane any
down, but I can see it is going to be very nice. I think
you will be hearing from me again.
Thanks, Myron S. The Curly Cherry arrived fine and was well packaged.
I am pleased with it. I intend to make 2 jewelry boxes for my young daughters that I hope will become heirlooms.
Thank You David N.
The cherry lumber was very nice. I have almost completed the project and
the highly figured cherry adds a lot to it.
Thanks. Ed C. Mike....wood
arrived last night. The cherry is beautiful and the
curly white oak will be something special! Your
packaging is great....no damage when it's wrapped so
well. Please keep quartersawn cherry in mind when you
are looking......old growth and evenly
colored. Thanks again and I wish you every success in
your new business!!
W. Tyson
One of the nicest curly red oak boards I've ever seen! Very well packaged.
David N. I got my curly maple about 6:30 this evening and it is perfect!
I couldn't ask for any better.
Thanks Joe C. Received the curly ash lumber in good order with no problems. Should make some very pretty band sawn boxes.
John H. I talked to Joe
last evening and he told me the quarter sawn sycamore order had
arrived. He also told me that is was really nice wood
too :-) We thank you for your help and promptness in
filling our order
Joe C. and Ken S. Received
the shipment of QSWCO (quarter sawn white curly oak) in good order with
no problems. Very nice looking wood !!
John H. "I just
received an order of 30 some-odd board feet of curly quarter sawn white
oak and I can say in all honesty it's some of the most beautiful lumber
I have ever owned. The boards have the classic quarter
sawn 'rays' but in this case they are swirled all around in wonderful
patterns much like you would find in a curly maple (I didn't even know
other wood species could be curly!)"
